Advanced Estimating Strategies

Building on the principles taught in NECA's Basic Estimating course, this course focuses on the strategy and business decisions made during the estimating and bidding process. You'll learn to think strategically about how to find, evaluate, and bid electrical construction projects.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

• Explain the estimator's role and responsibilities throughout the bidding process
• Define estimating terminology
• Evaluate bidding opportunities for the most desirable projects
• Analyze factors that affect cost and labor productivity
• Evaluate the potential risk factors of a project
• Discuss the risks and responsibilities identified in project specifications, labor agreements, scope letters, and standard contracts
• Describe the difference between overhead and profit and how they're applied to estimates

Who should attend: Individuals with a firm grasp of basic estimating principles and experience preparing bids. 

Prerequisite: Basic Estimating of Electrical Construction, or similar industry experience.

Cancellation Policy
There is no charge for cancellations made by 10/16/2026. A 50% charge applies for cancellations made between 10/17/2026 and 10/24/2026. Cancellations made between 10/25/2026 and 10/29/2026, as well as no-shows, will be charged the full registration price — $935 for Wisconsin Chapter NECA members, $1,120 for non-members. Attendee substitutions are welcome at any time.
